Community Climate Change Network – June and November events
The Community Climate Change Network in Wales is set up to help support and strengthen local networks, stimulate action and respond to the skills needs of groups and individuals working around climate change and carbon reduction.
The latest of the successful Community Action for Climate Change Network events are due to take place soon:
• Newport on Wednesday 23 June 2010
• Carmarthen on Thursday 24 June 2010
Each event will offer speakers from successful local and UK wide projects on food, energy, transport and other related areas, followed by networking and skill development sessions in areas such as project management, financial planning, presenting your organisation, writing funding applications, engaging groups and much more.
Details of the network events are available on the website: www.walescarbonfootprint.gov.uk under the communities tab, or for more information you can email: climate-change@wales.gsi.gov.uk. This June’s events will be followed by a Wales-wide gathering of communities on 22/23 November in Llangollen to celebrate and network community action for climate change across Wales.

Thinking about adapting your organisation and community to climate change
Climate change is on TV and in the newspapers all the time, but do people think about how it could actually affect them? The New Economics Foundation’s ‘Shared Energy Toolkit’ is designed to help community organisations get staff, volunteers, trustees and clients talking about climate change.
The toolkit illustrates the damage climate change has already caused and shows how different climate change scenarios could affect you and your organisation. The toolkit also gives ideas about how you can improve your organisation’s sustainability, and how to work with your local community to raise awareness and increase resilience.
It also contains a climate change quiz, instructions for a climate change walk and practical topics for discussion. It's intended to be used with Future News, a series of four newspapers from 2027. To find out more and download the toolkit for free, visit: www.neweconomics.org/publications/shared-energy-toolkit.
